Creatures 2009-2012
<Dancing Idiots> 24x18, Acrylic on Canvas, 2009
The creatures that live in my works are easily seen as penises or vaginas; it depends on how you look at them. Actually, they are both. Scientifically speaking, they are called androgynous or hermaphroditic. They are creatures of my dreams.
I have been struggling with understanding emotions caused by sexual instinct. I do not know what is right, what is twisted. The desire caused by human sexual instinct appears in many ways. It goes towards the opposite sex, the same sex, sometimes it is aimed at a dead person, dogs, high heels, food, etc. Desire always needs another person or object. To get satisfaction it needs to relate with someone or something. It never works out the way you want and it causes stress. That stress creates strange behaviors, habits and crime.
If everyone has both sexual organs, we could control our mental and physical desire from sexual instinct completely by ones’ self. In most cases, it could be a great solution for relationship issues.
The creatures are the actors and my work the stage. They tell us how peaceful they are and sing us the song “What a wonderful world.”
